i’ve been out of the loop…sorry couldn’t update my blog that much…though i promise to come here more often in the near future…question is when is that future slated?? haha…

oh well, i’ve been busy with my car after ondoy, and i really really hope that clinton (my car) will come home soon…

so what happens when someone close to you, a person you treated as a friend, suddenly turns cold, and ignores you and everything you know what…..the best thing to do is just let go…just let him/her go…

Ramblings…

ganun ba talaga yun…

to be continued blehh….

God, Save the Filipinos!

220reuters_floodvictim

There was the sudden rush of water, rising, quick and fast. They had to run. Run! Go to the second floor of the house, no the water is still rising, now go to the rooftop. It’s cold, they’re wet, water everywhere. Water now gets higher and higher. Water is almost on the rooftop! Mama I’m hungry! Mama I feel cold! It’s getting dark, why are we still here? Will somebody come for us? My child, we have to sleep here at the rooftop for the night. But mama we’re wet, and it’s cold. We have to wait for help, we have to wait for help to come. Tomorrow, they will rescue us. Tomorrow when you wake up, the rescuers will be here…. But tomorrow never came, rescue never came.
Hundreds of families stayed on the rooftop of their houses, as the wrath of Ondoy struck different areas in the Philippines, leaving most of the families devastated. The flood water has taken with it all their belongings leaving nothing behind, not even their homes. Some of the homes has also been washed out by the flood.
Almost every place was under water, even in the main city. Most people spent evenings on their rooftop because the flood water reached even up to the second floor houses. My family is ok because we are at the 4th floor of the building that we stay in, but my car is a total wreck, a complete mess. Our parking lot and the ground floor was filled with water, all cars submerged and filled with mud. So I had been busy cleaning and trying to save whatever I can of the car, and now waiting for the mechanic and electrician to make it work.
My brother and sister got flooded in their homes, and my sister lost everything, clothes, kitchen things, almost everything. She was only able to save a few. She got trapped in the second floor of her home, the ground floor already filled with water. It was very lucky that the water stopped rising at the stairs, for if it didn’t, she could have drowned. My brother didn’t lose his belongings but in his area, the street is still flooded up to the waist.

So I had to go to them last week to give some clothes and food. It was my own relief operations for my family. Help from government never came. My sister tried going to the nearest center, and when she was asking for relief goods, they were asking for her identification card. Oh my, these are flood victims and you expect them to be carrying IDs. Of course it’s on its way to the sewers. Then she got rejected in another center because they said she looked too good to be a flood victim. Owwww… so I just had to gather my clothes, the food in my fridge, and went to my brother and sister. We went to eat at a fastfood, because my sister hasn’t eaten for two days being trapped upstairs in her home. It was such a depressing moment, to see your family struck by calamity. Yet I am not very much financially able to help because I got strucked too. But one thing can be learned here, in the eye of the storm you will see how tight the bond between a family can be. There is no help too small. What’s important is the love, care and moral support that you show to your family. My help wasn’t really big, just a few clothes, some cash to help them sustain their food. I brought them to the grocery and we bought their basic needs. But so much joy can be seen in their eyes, and that joy melted my heart and made me want to cry.

The day after, my sister sent me a text message saying: “Butterflies don’t know the color of their wings, but human eyes know how nice they are. Likewise, you don’t know how good you are, but people know how you add color to their lives. Keep doing good.”

I used to have a foundation but it stopped operations because there are no more donations. I plan to put it up again. I used to call it “Feed the Children Mission”. I used to feed street children and children in the slums. I give them porridge in a bowl; we prepare casseroles of porridge and let the children line up and feed them. There was so much joy in my heart while I was doing this. Now I want to bring it to life again, because there are so many children dying, so many children not being able to get enough food after the typhoon. So many families can’t get help from the government. So many families were not reached by the media. I want to help in my own little way.

If any one of you might know of any organization that would like to support my vision, please let me know. You may write me at schreiberapfel@yahoo.com. God bless us all, and God, please save the Filipinos.

Residents said this is the first time this happened in Philcoa. Whoever thought that even Quezon City will be under water?? My neighbour said he lived there in Bliss for 10 years and this is the first time this horrible thing happened…

Quotes from personas: “A matter of hours, it nearly submerged Manila…this will not happen IF THE 3 DAMS OUT THERE DID NOT RELEASE WATER!”….eto ang sagot ng isa: “just a word of advise… be glad the dams did release water….” oh really…

Dulcinea at Greenbelt 1

here’s a scene at Dulcinea in Greenbelt 1. this happened while i was having a meeting with a client. the waiter was cleaning the table in front of us, coz the customers in that table already left. suddenly, we were disrupted by the shout, as in “sigaw”, by the manager: “psst hoy, wag mo itapon yan. halika nga dito.” the waiter, holding the paper placemats which he already crumpled, walked towards the manager. then the manager said, aloud, more than enough for three tables to hear her, “hindi tinatapon yan, anong ginagawa mo”, then the waiter replied “e mam kasi madumi na po e kaya itatapon ko na sana”. then the manager repeated “hindi tinatapon yan! akin na nga yan!” and grabbed the crumpled paper placemats from the waiter, and tried to straighten it out…..

hmmmm….. i guess the manager could have been more discrete in terms of cleanliness… and also unprofessional to scold an employee in front of the customers…

i guess i don’t want to dine again at Dulcinea in Greenbelt, who knows they might have been recycling the choco dip leftovers hahaha….
